Presentation: Cloud technology is changing the retail landscape.  Real time visibility across retail operations, seamless sales channels, instantly scalable solutions have helped make retailers more adaptable and competitive in these tougher economic times. And that is not even taking into account the lower cost of ownership cloud and SaaS systems can deliver. This presentation will highlight why the future trend of retail is skewed to cloud technology and why it will become more prevalent and important for retailers in the coming years.

About Ian Tomlinson: He is both prescient and insightful, and is the founder and CEO of Cybertill. Ian spotted a unique business opportunity by utilising technology, and importantly, he was able to follow through by establishing a company that has created a niche for itself in what is an extremely competitive market.

The practical application of technology to solving business issues is Ian’s forte.  Not only did his company harness the availability and affordability of broadband internet to create the world’s first hosted EPoS (electronic point of sale) system for retailers in 2001, but along the way managed other notable firsts such as; being the first ‘web based’ application in the world that could connect and process a printer directly, a necessity for retailers to print receipts! Cybertill also developed ‘partial page requests’ for hosted applications which are now employed by many websites and all this was before the term ‘cloud based computing’ was been coined.

Cybertill’s EPoS system is provided as a managed service, but Cybertill has worked with its retail clients to move them beyond their expectations of technology and to transform their businesses.  The application of Cybertill to many smaller businesses has been quite radical, and has levelled the playing field for them, enabling them to become multi-channel businesses with a modest financial outlay and little or no IT skills.

A straight-talking Mancunian with sound judgment and humour, Ian is grounded and even-tempered and has the ability to see how technology can make a practical difference to retailers and the wider world.  He is able to convince others to work with him by being a hands-on leader.  He is practical and goal-driven and, whilst determined to see his vision through, he leaves space for others to develop.  He is authoritative but consensual and always keen to learn from the experience of others.

About Cybertill: Cybertill is the UK’s leading retail systems provider. Cybertill pioneered cloud computing solutions in the retail sector, as the first provider of an EPoS solution over a broadband connection. Today, Cybertill remains the only true cloud computing EPoS solution providing technology that helps retailers trade in store, online and over the phone, all in real time and completely seamlessly.

Presentation: Change and standardize your POS IT infrastructure; benefits for the modern retailer

About Carlos Serratos: Carlos Serratos is the Manager of the Pre Sales department and the regional design center for Epson's EMEA region. He is a world citizen and true globe trotter, involved in a wide range of technologies, markets and solutions. Some of those projects involve applications for Fiscal printing solutions and banking branch automation.
